What does the Hospital (no A&E) sign mean?
A blue H shows a hospital without an accident and emergency department. For emergencies, follow a red H.
Also known as: Blue H sign
What it means
There is a hospital ahead, but it does not have accident and emergency facilities.
Hospital signs use the colour of the H to tell you about emergency care: blue for no A&E, red for A&E.
Expect people and vehicles turning in and out near the hospital, and take care around ambulances.

On the approach to hospitals, including on direction signs as a blue H patch.
