What does the Recommended route for cycles sign mean?

Shows a route recommended for pedal cycles on the main carriageway of a road. It is advice, not a cycles-only route.

Also known as: Advisory cycle route

What it means

A route recommended for pedal cycles on the main carriageway.

A blue rectangle with a bicycle recommends a route for cyclists on the road itself. It may be marked as an advisory cycle lane.

It does not stop other traffic using the road. Compare the blue circle, which marks a route for cycles only.

Where you'll see it

On roads that form part of a signed cycle route.
