What does the Pass either side sign mean?

You may pass either side of this sign or island to reach the same place. Both routes lead to the same road.

What it means

Traffic may go either side of the island or obstruction the sign is on, as both sides lead to the same destination.

Two arrows pointing down and outwards show that both sides are open.

Choose the side that suits your lane, check for other traffic, and do not cut across in front of a vehicle using the other side.

Where you'll see it

On traffic islands and bollards where both sides lead to the same road.

Rules to know

Common mistakes

  • Mistake: Thinking it means you must keep left.

Instead: A single arrow pointing down to the left means keep left. Two arrows mean either side is allowed.
